About Us
PieShell emboldens and empowers food and beverage entrepreneurs and enthusiasts to bring new ideas to life. But PieShell is more than just a crowdfunding platform. We’re a community of people who are passionate about food, innovation, and giving.
Cheryl Clements
Founder + CEO PieShell
For PieShell founder Cheryl Clements, food is personal. It’s about connection. Growing up, Cheryl spent summers helping her mother run a pie-making business. Aptly named “The Pie Shell”, it was headquartered where all good startups begin: the family’s basement. It was from her mother that Cheryl learned what it takes to build a successful food operation, but more than that, she learned how communities grow around the food that people share. A few years ago, when Cheryl thought of embarking on her own food venture, she saw a crucial need for a crowdfunding platform that addresses the unique challenges of food and beverage entrepreneurs.

What makes us different
75% of food projects fail on today’s crowdfunding sites.
We’re changing that.
PieShell’s incubation approach prepares projects for launch and boosts their chances of success. Our new stepping-stone model also gives projects a better chance to reach their goals. Your project will have a captive audience with an appetite for food with a story. You’ll also have a team of professionals behind you who live and breathe food and beverage.
PieShell is committed to giving back
We partner with food and beverage non-profits to support our amazing community and give back.

What is PieShell?

We are rewards-based crowdfunding, not equity – for anything food and beverage. Food products, beverages, breweries, coffee shops, food tech solutions, tech apps, food trucks, cookbooks, pop-ups, restaurants, documentaries — the sky’s the limit.

Why would I use PieShell?

Because we want you to be successful and have built this site specifically for that purpose! Food campaigns are failing 75% of the time on the current platforms. Here is how we are fixing that:

  1. PieShell’s food-centric community delivers an undiluted pool of supporters to each project. They understand you and why you have chosen food and beverage as your path.
  2. PieShell’s stepping-stone model lets you set realistic and obtainable goals on your way to funding the complete project. As soon as a stepping-stone’s goal is met, you are guaranteed to receive those funds when the project is over.
  3. All projects must follow PieShell’s pre-launch step-by-step blueprint. Based on the industry’s best practices, this incubation approach ensures each project has all the necessary elements (for example, video, social media, gifts, etc.) in place before the project launches.

What will it cost to use PieShell?

PieShell charges a 6% fee on successfully raised funds. Remember, you are successful as soon as you reach your stepping-stone’s goal. But, that isn’t all for us… we will be donating 1% of that fee to a food or beverage non-profit. Standard Stripe credit card fees also apply: 30¢ per transaction and 2.9%.

What is PieShell’s 1% donation policy?

We collect a 6% fee on all funds that the project successfully raises. 1% of that 6% will be donated to non-profits that share our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive community through food via training programs, mentorships, etc.
