Dr. Cowan’s Garden is a line of functional spices using vegetables grown on small, organic and biodynamic farms, as well as from foragers of wild vegetables. Our products make it possible for you to easily increase your vegetable intake - enjoying all the benefits of their vitamins, minerals, and a variety of phytochemicals - simply by adding our powders to your food.
Vegetables play a critical role in the human diet. In fact, taking our lead from healthy traditional peoples, we should strive to eat at least 10 to 12 different plants a day. The problem is it's challenging - and time-consuming - to prepare and eat the amount and variety of vegetables we should be eating on a daily basis.

About Dr. Thomas Cowan
Dr. Thomas Cowan is a longtime holistic physician living and practicing in San Francisco who specializes in helping people heal through diet and natural medicines. His book How (and Why) to Eat More Vegetables describes why eating small amounts of a wide variety of vegetables is key to optimal health. He is one of the founding board members of the Weston A. Price Foundation, and he is trained and experienced in Anthroposophic medicine as well. He is also a passionate and knowledgeable grower of vegetables. He did, indeed, plant and tend many of the plants used in our products.
