Té Amo is an organic bottled tea startup that began when me and my mom decided brew and sell the best teas in the world - starting with my grandmother's Peruvian Chai tea recipe. We have taken on our slogan, "Buy A Tea, Plant A Tree" because of our commitment to raising the funds to plant trees in Haiti via bottle sales. Purchasing one bottle plants a tree on the land of a Haitian farmer and therefore yields the natural resources to multiply their annual earning by up to 3 times.
We are raising funds to build a tree nursery of our own because we want to expand our impact and play a deeper role in reforesting Haiti.
Why "Té Amo?"
Té Amo translates directly to “tea love” and “I love you”. Our business and products emphasize love in every way. First, you love yourself by treating your body as a temple – putting only the best ingredients into it. Second, you love your neighbor in need by funding the planting of a tree in the most impoverished and deforested country in the world, Haiti. You can kill two birds with one stone simply by choosing one of our delicious, organic teas.
Deforestation in Haiti has reached an all-time high of 70% of land with no tree cover (according to Envirosociety.org). This problem has led to extreme erosion (image shown blow) which makes the ground dry and malnourished. Subsistence farmers in Haiti, those who farm to feed their families, have become extremely impoverished and struggle to maintain their family’s health, thus leading to poverty related illnesses.
The problem is not enough trees are being planted in Haiti to replace those which were lost. Té Amo was created to solve this problem by leveraging the American market’s consumer buying power towards an actionable result by planting trees.
Since November 2017, we have planted thousands of trees in Deschappelles, Haiti through a nonprofit 501c3 tree planting organization in Haiti called Haiti Friends!
Our team understands the importance of making Té Amo available in larger retailers and desire to be able to control our back-end tree marketing results by supporting our tree nursery. By supporting our tree nursery, we will be able to show buyers the trees they have funded. This will establish our brand around transparency and direct consumer impact while serving to reforest Haiti. We believe this will enable us to grow and differentiate between other tea brands. If our first milestone is reached, our team will fly to Haiti in January to build onto an existing nursery operated by Haiti Friends, our tree-planting partner, and create marketing developments in the nursery for Té Amo's purposes.
Below is a chart showing where all funds raised from this crowdfunding project will go:
Peruvian Chai Tea (Sweetened and Unsweetened) - This is my grandmother's Peruvian tea recipe. She made it for my mother when she was a kid and my mother made it for me. We still make it the same way grandma makes it - with fresh, organic, local ingredients. Since we now live in Pennsylvania, we use only the best local ingredients from Con Yeager Spice Company in New Castle and Prestogeorge Tea in the Strip District. The brew is filled with antioxidants, and gives you a healthy burst of energy.
Ceylon Black Tea Loose Leaf - This is a polyphenol, meaning it's packed with antioxidants and other potential health benefits. It can help treat digestion issues, weight management difficulties, diabetes, neurodegenerative disease, and cardiovascular diseases.
Ceylon Cinnamon - Raw cinnamon with anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-microbial effects. It is considered a savory and sweet seasoning that is a key ingredient within Té Amo’s flagship brew.
Whole Cloves - Cloves are a wonder-spice. They improve digestion, serve as an antibacterial, protect your liver, and are even considered anti-carcinogenic. Cloves add a balanced bite to our Peruvian Chai.
Anise - When boiled, anise secretes thymol, therpineol, and anethole, which is used for treating cough and flu.
Organic Cane Sugar - Awesome not-too-sweet taste that balances out and elevates the other spices, yet satisfies your sweet tooth.
Customer Reviews of our Peruvian Chai Tea
“Due to the antioxidants in the tea, I notice my arthritis doesn’t bother me when I start my day off with your tea!” - Stacy from New Kensington, PA
“Man, this stuff really helped my hangover” - Dude at the Strip District on a Sunday morning
“I was bloated, then I drank your tea and it went right down” – Fellow Grove City College student
Berry Jasmine – This was originally a concoction of smelling and pairing different organic tea bases with a fitting supplemental infusion at Prestogeorge. Dehydrated berries (raspberry, blueberry, cherry, and strawberry) boiled in a giant pot with plain jasmine tealeaves makes for an incredibly refreshing duo. After we brewed this tea for the first time and tasted it, we knew we had a winner.
Buncha Berries - A mix of dehydrated berries are infused into this brew, thus being packed with anthocyanin that may help keep your memory stay sharp as you age. Berries are a great source of fiber, a nutrient important for a healthy digestive system.
Jasmine Loose Leaf Tea - For hundreds of years, individuals in the oriental hemisphere have been drinking Jasmine tea for cardiovascular health, treatment for insomnia (low in caffeine), psychological health, and immune system boosts.
Organic Cane Sugar - Awesome not-too-sweet taste that balances out and elevates the other flavors, yet satisfies your sweet tooth.

“It’s so refreshing!” - Everyone that has had a cold bottle of our Berry Jasmine on a hot summer day.
Citrus Chamomile – Chamomile soothes you. With a hint of organic citrus, we get a sweet and tangy taste that goes down so well. You may have had a warm cup of chamomile before bedtime at some point in your life, but sleep isn’t all this tea is good for. We serve it iced - to “chill” you out during your day.
Chamomile Loose Leaf Tea - Chamomile is known to be a natural muscle and mind relaxer, it reduces stress, boosts your immune system, and soothes stomach aches. The herb originates from Egypt but is consumed all around the world.
Citric Acid - This ingredient serves two purposes: to balance out the natural sweetness with a tang, and to prolong the shelf life of our citrus chamomile (meaning - we can ship it to you!)
